Course Overview

The objective of the Mastering the Computer for Real Estate Professionals is to provide the appraiser with the knowledge to utilize computer tools in an appraisal practice to be more profitable and to save time and money. The course is designed specifically for real estate appraisers and focused on how to get the benefits out of their investment in computer technology.

The median age of professional appraisers is over 40 years. The majority of appraisers are not "Digital Natives". In recent years electronic communications have become the norm. Legal, financial and personal information is stored on computers. To serve the public, appraisers should be well versed in electronic information distribution, electronic file management and digital technologies.

The course is hands on, instructor led and utilizes the Microsoft Office suite of products. The course is divided into eight topic areas (Computer Basics, Understanding the Internet, Understanding Microsoft Word, Using Spreadsheets for Business, Contact Management, Microsoft Outlook, Creating Feature Sheets, Presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint and Managing Photographs) that are each three hour in length. Each three hour session covers a specific topic with numerous exercises for the student to try. Each participant in the course is supplied with a laptop, to work on.
